A Movement of Change in Monterrey, Mexico

I recently returned from an unforgettable mission trip to Monterrey, Mexico and I can truly say, my heart and my life will never be the same. ❤️
What made this trip even more meaningful was that my son and I got to go together. It was our very first mission trip side by side. We served, prayed, laughed, worked, and worshiped together, along with a team of 13 other beautiful souls that I can now call friends.
It was 5-days of quality time that went far beyond just being father and son. We grew together as men of faith. Watching God move in both of our hearts at the same time was one of the most powerful experiences of my life.
From the moment we arrived, I felt God’s presence. I also felt Him calling me to open up in ways I never had before. I allowed myself to be vulnerable, to let go of things I’d been carrying for far too long. In that space of surrender, God met me. He broke strongholds, brought healing, and revealed His strength in my weakness.
We spent our time serving at a home for children who have faced unthinkable trauma, abuse, neglect, abandonment, and loss. Yet in that place, we found so much light. The love that fills that home is pure and powerful. It’s a safe space overflowing with joy, laughter, and hope.
My favorite moments were the simple ones. Playing games, kicking a soccer ball, worshiping with the children and hearing them sing and play instruments, sharing meals, making homemade tortillas, and hearing the kids’ laughter echo throughout. Minimal phone usage and distractions, just connection and presence. It reminded me of the beauty found in simplicity and how easy it is to miss that in our daily lives.
Each evening, our team gathered to reflect and pray together. Those moments were some of the most impactful. People opening up, sharing their hearts, and testifying about how God was moving in them. I saw healing, unity, and renewal happening right before my eyes and not just in the kids we served, but in all of us who showed up to serve.
This trip reminded me that serving others isn’t just about giving your time or resources. It’s about allowing God to do His work in you as you serve. He used this experience to strengthen my faith, deepen my gratitude, and remind me of what truly matters.
Coming home, I feel lighter. Free. Refilled. Grateful for every person we met, every prayer shared, every tear shed, and every moment I got to spend alongside my son, growing together in Christ.
We came back changed with full hearts, renewed purpose, and a peace that only God can give. 🙌
I’ll never forget these moments and the people we shared them with. I am so grateful for the opportunity and for new friendships and connections. 🙏
