45This year was my second time traveling to Montana to come alongside the staff at Trails End Ranch to help them get ready to open for their busy summer season. Our team was made up of folks in various roles at Movement, which made the trip more fun. We worked hard, and we played hard as well.
If you are reading this and considering going on this trip next year, be prepared. We painted cabins, kitchen cabinets and staff residence. In one day, we stained 150 boards to be hung on the side of one of the barns. We poured concrete slabs for two air conditioning units, we laid carpet in two cabins, and built a 45 ft high climbing structure for the low ropes course. To say the team was tired at the end of each day is an understatement. However, the bunkhouse type lodging was comfortable. The weather was bearable. And the food was plentiful.
Our "played hard" consisted of a couple of tourist excursions to Mt Rushmore and Medicine Rocks State Park - where we had a campfire and played typical youth camp games - so fun! We also zip lined, and went horseback riding. All of this in the time frame of { land on Thursday, fly home on Tuesday}!!! Our fitbits got their workouts.
The benefit was seeing the 4 staff members, who worked harder than us, for sure, so excited to be getting projects done in a few days that would've taken them weeks and months. I am thankful for each team member who joined this week and so glad to have gotten to know them a little bit better.
