A Nhu Attitude: Mai First Vision Trip saving Children from Human Trafficking, Chiang Mai, Thailand

First off, thank you Movement Mortgage, for even making this a possibility because you are more than the words of Love, Value and Culture, you are these in Action, every day. So again, Thank you.

Now, here goes pieces of my story from my first Vision Trip:

Nhu was a Cambodian victim of human trafficking at the age of 12 who wanted to create sanctuaries where no other child would have to experience what she did, a safe space to salvage, nurture the sacred light of innocence, hope & strength in children around the world.

The homes/school of the foundation we worked with in Chiang Mai, are just such a place as they save as many of these precious souls whom would otherwise be most likely sold into human trafficking. Some of the villages they come from, their families cannot afford food, or their parent or both of, have passed & they live with grandparents who cannot afford more mouths to feed, seemingly left without alternatives, they fall into this horrific cycle of becoming a commodity.

I had to remind myself looking at the faces of the kiddos, laughing with them, playing games and coloring, WHY we were there. Why they're so happy- it's because they were saved, helped, protected. I look in these photos thinking that there are so many others who aren't, who face the shadows in the street daily, & it still brings tears to my eyes...

Which is why no words can describe what it was to be a part of the change I want to see.

After being at Movement for a few days, got an email about this Vision Trip (while I was still trying to remember my passwords no less 🙌), it spoke to me. I signed up without even a 2nd thought.

I had no idea who else was going, that didn't matter because what I did know was we all had the same purpose- being there to benefit the Foundation. From the moment we all met up it was as if we were a little family unit of our own- we always will be now. 🙏

When the kidlets were in school, we worked to set up their next adventures & also were able to experience the culture, via food, markets, villages, giving back to their economy, connecting us further with the people.

Perspective, Appreciation, Gratitude, Understanding, Clarity and Humility, are life changing.

1 of my best friends (also at MM), had just gone to Ecuador's Vision Trip, was still glowing from the Experience and I kinda selfishly wanted what she was having.

Bottom line for my share, if you've ever thought about going- GO. If you haven't thought about it, think about it, then GO.

I've never regretted doing something to help others, but I sure have regretted not acting when I could’ve.
