Montana Mission Trip - Trail's End Ranch Camp

THIS TRIP WAS AWESOME! The crew and I landed at our final destination in Grand Rapids, South Dakota. There we met the LOVELY Jim and Kim who picked us up and drove us to the camp. On the way there we made a few pit stops - Mount Rushmore (very cool) and the largest Bigfoot carving in the US. How tall was it? Not sure, but it was really big. Then when we got to the camp, Jim and Kim drove us around the property to see what all they had in camp, as well as a VERY large chunk of the land. Then we ate dinner, and got ready for bed as we had a full day of work ahead of us.
The next morning we had breakfast and it was right to work. Day 1 was great. Ross and I were cutting some 2x4s to add framing to the pool deck. After that was complete, we made our way to another cabin to do the same project. The framing we put up was for some sheet metal to be added as ~decoration~. Around noon we ate lunch, and back to work. After dinner, we jumped on the zipline and then played 9 SQUARE IN THE SKY. Remember 4 square? Add 5 more squares and lift the square into the sky. It was a blast.
For the next two days I was on the carpet crew - Wade, Ross, Kim, Cole and myself. We tore the old carpet out of one cabin and laid down some carpet squares. This took almost an entire day. After we finished in the cabin, we jumped on over to the office and laid some carpet in there. The next day, we finished the office. And boy does it look great in there! I'm a little biased...
On the last day of work we added more wood framing to the chapel so they could add sheet metal for ~decoration~. I was standing on scaffolding (and I am not the best with heights) drilling in some 2x4s, as well as some L-shaped metal for the sheet metal to slide into place. Being up like 6-7 feet all day was not how I was wanting to spend the day, but we made it happen.
All the while, we were eating GOOD. Every meal was homemade, delicious and heartwarming. I definitely gained weight leaving the mission trip.
Overall, it was an amazing trip. We worked hard, played hard, laughed hard and got to see so many things get accomplished. It was special getting to do manual labor, especially at a camp where children will be presented with the gift of the Gospel. We may never see any of the fruit from the work we did until we get to Glory, but I am so happy with how this trip went. Some of the greatest memories of this trip were getting to be in community with my co-workers and not having to talk about work or canva or M3 or Movement Boost or a million other things. We got to be people sharing stories, laughing and growing the kingdom.
Best trip ever. 10/10
